Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one titles have been achieved on hard courts

A resurgent the Russian player secured his initial title for 882 days with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the competition title decider.

Medvedev, a former number one, has endured a difficult year, winning just one match at the big events and undergoing a meltdown at the US Open.

His varied form on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serving in specific - caused him exiting of the world's top 10 and finally splitting with long-term trainer his previous coach.

Presently training with his coach and Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily improved in the last few weeks - culminating in a tightly fought three-set triumph over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

It is the player's first championship since the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard surface from spring of the previous year.

The win also means he has won 21 titles at twenty-one various events.

"It's the first time I am participating in a competition with my children at once, so to secure a title is really nice," stated ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my second daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I achieved when my child her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his past six championship matches, featuring in the German tournament in the past months.

The player's defensive approach and frequent outbursts on the playing surface had led some to doubt if his ability to compete at the elite level was concluded.

However the athlete has made changes in the past month, attempting to approach the net and perform positively, reinforced by an improved service.

Medvedev fought back from a break down in the initial set against the difficult Frenchman, taking 4 of the final five exchanges to go ahead.

The competitors swapped break points in the following set before Moutet, striving for his maiden professional championship, took control to push for a third set.

The opponent defended 4 early-game chances in a close final set before the Russian secured a break to 15 to close out the victory.

Fittingly, he clinched the title with a rally at the net, with his opponent failing to control a return after a lengthy match.
